This week, we did a mini author study of Eric Carle. We read many of his books and watched a video of him discussing how he gets ideas for his stories and his art. Then, we worked together to create community paper using his style. Yesterday, we turned the paper we made into creepy, crawly insects! Be sure to check them out next week when you come in for your student-led conference!
Today we learned about leaves at ECO! We played a game in the field, listened to Ken tell a story, and made beautiful mandalas with leaves in the forest.
We learned about ants! We continued to learn about good reading and writing habits. We learned about number bonds and writing number sentences. We also had our first first grade sing along, which was a huge success! A highlight of the week for me was watching my little artists create self portraits! Be sure to check them out at Open House on Wednesday night!
We are learning about how reading partners work as a team, build good habits together, read together, and give reminders. The kids added new books to their book bags today and learned about what to do when they finish reading a book.
Picture Day is Wednesday, September 7th. Bring your beautiful smiles and wear something snazzy!
our Literacy Interventionist, visited us today for a special read aloud. Choice Time was great fun, too.
